What a wonderful couple of days! Good bonding times with friends, volunteering, fellowshipping with new church friends, working hard, piles of packages, calls from around the country, feeling blessed and loved, restful days, after church lunching, and tons of thinking. Thank you all for ushering in my 23rd year of life!!!!

Questions I have lingering from my birthday:

1. I received 4 cards with babies on them with awesome looking screaming faces. Normally I would say this is just cute, no questions asked, but I need to know... I don't REMIND you guys of these screaming babies do I? I mean, I know I make sound effects and crazy faces sometimes, but...

 2. Will anyone ever understand how much this warms my heart?

3. Will these treats + people who live in Auburn + the promise of hanging out with the Millers / their dog make me move back to the South one day?

4. Will I gain a better moral education from these textbooks or the ones I have for class?

+I don't have to hold your hand to feel you there / we don't really have a plan, but I'm not scared

Sweet weekend time. I am sitting in the middle of my floor of my apartment with homework all spread around me. Listening to some Bob Dylan and yearning to be reading some Calvin & Hobbes instead of in-depth history textbooks. But I'm a happy camper all the same. Kansas won our football game this afternoon against Georgia Tech. What a fun game. I feel so lucky to have a college-football-team-that-I-can-call-my-own finally, and that we actually showed up to play today! It also helps that the friends I am making within my cohort are so fun and genuinely good people. I am excited to be a part of such a great group.

My current thoughts? I am truly loving my coursework and my assistantship here at KU. I have learned something new and done something new each and every day, so no complaints at all. I have really enjoyed being a student again. Happy to be through with my 8 month hiatus from structured learning to fully being submerged in it... literally. I find myself reading for class constantly, but it is so wonderful that now it is all applicable to my career of choice.

Also, while it resides in the back burner of my mind most of the time, I am wonderfully excited about upcoming weddings of dear and sweet friends. I have long been uneasy about this time in life that snuck up on me (everyone getting engaged and married and me not feeling old enough to have friends doing so), but now it just excites me, and makes me so happy to be a part of the celebration. Bring on the dresses, the heels, the gorgeous floral arrangements. Bring on the dancing and the laughter and the cake. Also, the fact that most of them bring me back to my beloved Nashville is an added perk :)

Oh me oh my, what a restful weekend! Sarah stopped by to visit Lawrence KS all the way from Nashville! What a treat! And just because I'm lazy and have a bit of homework to get to, I will leave photos for your entertainment!
