+to be awake is to be alive

"i have a great deal of company in my house;
especially in the morning, when nobody calls."
-thoreau (walden)

encouraging. different. much-needed.
i have had more time to do my own thing these past few days. unscheduled days become days full of things i always wished i could do if i had the time - things by myself for the most part. going on long walks, laying in the sun at centennial park, taking hundreds of pictures, sleeping in and watching movies, reading for pleasure, talking to strangers, journaling, catch-up phone calls with people back home, letter-writing, making art, cleaning.... all of these things. i've done almost all of them everyday and it feels so free.

no part of me has felt lonely at all. and that can only be attributed to my God. He's been keeping me company and free of boredom. and people are here. and they have been phenomenal. we understand space and we understand need for time together. it's a beautiful balance so far. i keep on waiting for the day when i'll get frustrated or annoyed with this all, but it doesn't show signs of stopping. it's hard not to smile when your best friends are in the same city as you, the sun is warm and hitting your face, and when your schedule allows you to feel freedom.

this is not a very epic post. but that's okay with me, today.
