i am in the back corner of fido, a coffee shop in hillsboro village just down the road from my university. it's storming. and not just minor raindrops. we're talking flashing lightening. roaring thunder. intimidating to say the least. i can barely see the cars driving past because the rain is so thick as it bounces off the windows. but i don't even feel nervous. i know i'm protected as i lean against the sturdy brick wall.
do you ever wonder if we should have more fear of storms? shouldn't i sit in awe and fear as i think of the power that God has over his creation? He has the ability to change the mood, the behavior, and the goings on by simply changing the weather. imagine having that power!
i want to be taken aback by a storm. i want to not be able to go on with life as scheduled.
i don't want to look at a storm with minor annoyance.
i want to embrace it with my whole body.
why can't i just go play in it?
why can't i just go take a nap under and feel nature falling on me?
because.
eventually i have to stand up.
the rain will clear.
i will have to enter back into the air conditioned room.
then there is the hassle of laundry, and cleanliness, and oh yeah, getting to work on time.
yuck. what have i become.
not available to enjoy creation.
too busy?
warm rain storm. gentle breeze. perfect thunder.
dear God, let me be a part of it.
